In an effort to inform parents about significant issues and trends impacting students and young people, Polk County Schools hosted a Parent Information Night on Dec. 3 with presentations on vaping and electronic cigarettes, social media and Internet safety, and youth mental health and wellness.

In recent years Polk County Schools has seen an increase in student vaping and use of electronic cigarettes, problems associated with the use of social media and the Internet and issues related to youth mental health and wellness. The goal of Parent Information Night is to both educate families and to provide access to resources for assistance and support.

Experts from the field and school and district administration lead the sessions, providing information on the dangers associated with these topics and existing resources parents and families can use to learn more or get help if needed.
