Hello. This is an automated message from Aaron Greene. I am calling to give you another update on school reopening. First, I want to remind everyone that Monday, August 24 will be the first school day for students, except for Polk Early College. You will be receiving more information and details about reopening plans and procedures from our schools and me throughout the week next week. We are excited to get this year started!
Second, I want to let you know the COVID19 numbers here in Polk are a little better than last week but we still need everyone to help us continue that trend. I again urge everyone to follow the guidance we have been hearing from our health officials – wear face coverings when out in public, wait and socially distance 6’ apart from others, and wash your hands and practice good hygiene. Doing these things can help bring our numbers back down and make it safer for students and staff. It is the best way for us to get our students back to school and keep them there.
On a final note, I would like to thank our community for being so patient and supportive. This is still an uncertain and anxious time for so many. Your trust in our district and educators is greatly appreciated. I would also like to thank our administrators, teachers, and staff who are working very hard to make sure things are in place and ready for students on August 24. I am humbled by their resolve and dedication to our students and families. As I have said many times, much of what we will have to do will be inconvenient and unpopular. We will all have to help each other, to communicate with each other, and it will certainly help to be gracious and grateful. I truly believe if any community can do this it is Polk County. Have a great weekend and remember that better days are ahead.
