April 1, 2020

Hello, Polk Families and Community!  This is Aaron Greene with your April 1 update.

We have prepared and will be posting and distributing a new set of learning activities for students for the upcoming week tomorrow, Thursday, April 2.  These activities will be posted online at our www.polkschools.org/learning site by 11:00 am tomorrow.  We will have paper packets prepared for students who need them available for pickup tomorrow from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.  Paper work packets for students in grades PK-5 can be picked up at any elementary school, students in grades 6-8 should go to PCMS, and students in grades 9-12 should go to PCHS.  Again, these paper packets will be available for pickup tomorrow from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.  If you are not able to pick up these packets tomorrow during that time frame you can contact your child’s school by phone to set up a different time or way to get these materials.

I also want to remind everyone these learning activities are recommended but not required.  Our guidance to this point is to engage students in learning activities and give feedback as we are able.  It is important for us all to encourage students to do their best to engage in the activities during the closing in order to be prepared for the day we return to school.  Please keep your student’s completed work for now.  We are working on a process for how to get work back to teachers so students can receive feedback.  Once we get that figured out we will let you know.  Our teachers and schools will be reaching out to families to see how we can best support student engagement and to provide as much assistance and feedback as we can.

Tonight’s quote is from Albert Einstein – “In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity.”  Let’s use this difficult time as an opportunity to help others, strengthen family bonds, or learn a new skill.  Taking care of each other.  Better days are ahead.  Have a good evening.
