April 27, 2020

Hello, Polk Families and Community!  I hope your week is off to a great start.  This is Aaron Greene with your April 27 update:

There is no new information to share this evening.  We will be working to clarify and implement the grading decisions approved by the NC State Board of Education and will get more information out to you about this later in the week.  The announcement from Governor Cooper about schools remaining closed for the rest of the academic year has generated many new questions about things like registration for next year, how to retrieve students’ personal belongings, what about end-of-year celebrations, and so on.  We again ask for your patience as we work through the challenges and unknowns, and we will do our best to keep you updated and informed.

Today’s quote comes from successful business leader and writer Max De Pree – “We can not become what we want by remaining what we are.”  I think we can all agree it is difficult to change, even when we have good reasons and want to change.  Still, it’s hard to drive out of a rut.  One thing we tell our students and staff is to learn and improve each and every day.  Though many of our lives have changed in significant ways I believe it is important for us to remember we have the power to change and adapt.  It will be important for us to employ that ability if we are going to move forward with our goals and continue to take care of our families, neighbors, and ourselves.  Strive each day to improve.  Better days are ahead.
