March 23, 2020

Hello, Polk Families and Community!  This is Aaron Greene with your March 23 update.  Happy Monday to you all, and thank you for all you are doing to take care of your own families and each other.  Again, thank you for your patience with us as we deal with this new reality.
In case you did not hear/see Governor Cooper’s press conference all public schools will be closed until May 15.  I know this is not the announcement anyone wanted to hear and it has generated many more questions and issues for all of us.  I know this creates significant challenges for us all, but I am convinced that together we can meet these challenges!  Evidently we will have plenty of time to work on them and get the answers to the many questions we have.

For now we will continue to work on our food distribution and family wellness checks.  Our teachers met virtually today to begin planning for online lessons and paper packets that we hope to get out to you later this week.  We know you and your kids want and need the work and that is where we are focusing in the coming days.

After hearing about the Governor’s announcement scheduled for today I purposefully waited to post question responses and will now be working on getting those out given the new information.  We hope you will continue to visit our polkschools.org COVID19 site for updates.  We’re going to have to be patient with each other and envision a new way to have school.  As always the safety and well being of our students and families is our highest priority, so let us know if you need anything.  Thank you, and have a good night.
