March 30, 2020

Hello, Polk Families and Community!  Happy Monday to you all.  This is Aaron Greene with your March 30 update.

Tonight’s message is not long or involved as there is not much new information to give you at this time.  As you probably know by now, Governor Cooper has issued a “Stay at Home” order for the foreseeable future.  While this may change a few staffing patterns for us, I want everyone to know that our meal distribution at elementary school sites will continue to take place each day the same time and way as it has the past two weeks.  If you did not get a chance to pick up student work packets or a chromebook we ask that you contact the school principal to set up a time.  We are preparing the next round of student activities for later this week and we will update you on that in the coming days.  At the end of last week I finally posted responses to the questions you submitted on our COVID19 site, though many of the answers are still not available.  Again, we thank you for your patience and support.

I also want to encourage everyone to support our local businesses as best we can during this time by ordering takeout, utilizing approved services, and sharing their operating information with others.  As always, be sure to visit our COVID19 site (www.polkschools.org/coronavirus) for updates.  My quote for tonight comes from the great coach, John Wooden – “Things work out best for those who make the best of how things work out.”  Let’s make the best of this situation by staying positive and treating others with kindness.  Better days are ahead.  Thank you, and have a good evening.
