Honor Band Clinic to conclude with free concert on Saturday

Polk County High School is hosting the 2019 Foothills Honor Band Clinic on Friday and Saturday, two days of training for regional band students that will end with a public performance on Saturday.

The Honor Band Clinic features students from each middle and high school in both Polk and Rutherford counties who were selected by their band directors to attend. Those students gather and practice all day on Friday and a half a day on Saturday.

Both the middle and high school bands are directed by a guest conductor, selected by the band directors, who is well known for rapport and experience with students and knowledge of musical literature for that grade/age level.

“It is an honor to be selected for this experience, and the students come away with some new, fun and exciting literature under their fingers and having made positive contacts with students of their own like instruments,” said Cindy Gilbert, Polk County High School’s band director.

The bands will perform a free concert on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the PCHS auditorium. The community is invited to attend.
