PCEC provides the behind the wheel phase of the North Carolina Driver Education Program. NC requires students under 18 to complete Driver Education before earning a Learners Permit.

Students are encouraged to take the
Online Class through WRESA.org. After online class completion, students will complete behind the wheel training at PCEC.
Driver’s Ed Online will cover the state and national standards required for drivers’ education. The instructor will monitor progress and be available to assist with questions. The course will be self-paced but must be completed within the four-week window. Successful completion of the course requirements will result in the student receiving the paperwork necessary for the driving portion of drivers’ education. This paperwork can be presented to the local school contact or appropriate private contact.
Students must be in grades 9-12 and 14.5 yearsof age before enrolling in this course. The student will receive access to the course within 2-5 business days.The cost for the course is $60, and payments can be made through PayPal. This course is open to students in the WRESA service area. This includes the following counties: Buncombe, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain, Transylvania, and Yancey.
