PCHS physical education students tackle Murph Challenge

Polk County High School students in Billy Alm’s physical education class recently took on their own version of the Murph Challenge.

The Murph Challenge, named in honor of Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy, is an annual fitness event that takes place on Memorial Day in the United States. The challenge consists of a grueling workout that pays tribute to the fallen heroes of the armed forces.

Participants are required to complete a series of exercises including a one-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats and another one-mile run—all performed while wearing a 20-pound weighted vest or body armor.

Started in 2014, the Murph Challenge has gained significant popularity and has become a symbol of dedication and remembrance within the fitness community.
