Polk Central fifth graders help tackle Nature Trail cleanup

Polk Central fifth graders spent a recent February afternoon working with Ameri-Corps and the Kudzu Warriors of Conserving Carolina to pick up trash and remove invasive plants from the Polk Central Nature Trail.

Students are learning to identify plants, to understand the role of organisms in an ecosystem, and to work together to accomplish their goals.

Students especially enjoyed getting to know the community members and the opportunity to work with the trail maintenance tools.
