Polk Central students honored for work to create Pollinator Garden

Students from Polk Central Elementary School were recognized Jan. 16 at the Polk County Board of Commissioners meeting for their efforts in creating a Pollinator Garden at the school.

At the meeting, the Polk County Appearance Commission awarded a Certificate of Recognition to the Champions for Wildlife project at Polk Central. Fifth grade students Rylie and JJ Klimstra, Amelia Lecompte, Rufus Wallace and Ada Waters attended to accept the certificate.

The fifth graders and their classmates installed a Pollinator Garden outside their classroom, hoping to support diverse wildlife as well as providing interest, beauty and a relaxing environment for the entire community.
