Polk Central third graders recently began processing plant donations received from several local groups.
The school received about 25 plant varieties from Gardening for Life, Champions for Wildlife and Conserving Carolina. Unfortunately, many pots had lost their labels.
Undeterred, students observed and measured these mostly dormant plants fur a real life look at identifying and classifying plants. They will later decide where to plant the specimens in their increasingly diverse schoolyard.
