Polk Child Nutrition offering free summer meals to area children

The Polk County Schools Child Nutrition Program will be offering free meals this summer to Polk County children and teen-agers.

Meals will be available for pick up at Polk County High School each Thursday from 4-6 p.m.  This program will run from June 6 to July 27, with no meal service the week of July 4.

Meals can be picked up in a drive-through line in the cafeteria parking lot at Polk County High School.  Families can receive five breakfasts and five lunches for the week for each child 18 and under in the home.

No sign up or prior registration necessary.  Please note that students participating in this summer’s YMCA camps and receiving meals through those camps during the day are not eligible for this program.

Anyone who has questions can contact Jennifer Peeler at 828-894-6124 or visit the Polk Schools website.
