The Polk County High School FFA Junior Dairy Judging Team brought home major hardware from the NC FFA State Dairy Judging Career Development Event, finishing as state runner-up and Western Region Champions in the junior division.
The competition was held April 10 in Winston-Salem, with teams from across North Carolina competing for top honors. Representing Polk County were team members Natalie Dill, Claire Lawrence, Paige White and Olivia Lohec.
The team was coached by FFA Advisor and Agricultural Education Teacher Chauncey Barber and sponsored by Harmon Brothers Farm in Tryon..
Dairy judging is a demanding competitive discipline that requires students to evaluate cattle conformation, production potential, and breed characteristics, skills that blend sharp observation, agricultural knowledge and confident decision-making under pressure.
