Gran Fondo Hincapie Event

A big thank you to the Saluda School students, parents, staff, and Saluda School alumni and their families for volunteering at the Gran Fondo Hincapie’s Saluda rest stop for the 50- and 80-mile riders. Over 2000 bicyclists traveled through Saluda on Saturday, October 21st and most stopped not once, but twice at Saluda School’s “You’ve Made the Grade – A+” rest stop,  where volunteers supported the nutritional refueling of the riders – with beautiful smiles and cheerful attitudes. Pictured here are McKinley (4th), Liam (2nd), and Makaylah (6th) with their mother Kersten. Other current students that helped are Zoe Wallace (4th) with her mother and Ivey Neel (5th) with her older sister and mother. The teamwork and effort put forth helped create an unforgettable experience for bicyclists from around the world.

Hincapie Sports “gives back” to Saluda School each year and donations will be used to add additional play opportunities at the school playground. Details and requests for participation in this project to follow in the coming months. We are looking forward to the opportunity for another Saluda Community collaborative effort.
