The history of Saluda Elementary can be traced back to 1922. During that year, the Saluda Seminary closed as a private institution and the school became part of the public school system in Polk County, North Carolina. Today, Saluda Elementary School is an inviting PreK-5 public school located in the rural western North Carolina city of Saluda. The school is within walking distance of small businesses in Saluda’s Historic Downtown District. Saluda Elementary School is one of only 53 schools in the North Carolina A+ Schools Program. A+ Schools cover the North Carolina Common Core Standards and North Carolina Essential Standards through interdisciplinary thematic units, combined with arts integration and hands-on, experiential learning, including daily arts instruction by certified arts teachers.
