Saluda Elementary School students celebrated Red Ribbon Week from Oct. 27-31 with daily themed activities promoting drug-free lifestyles and healthy choices.
Red Ribbon Week is a national drug prevention campaign that encourages students to make positive decisions and live drug-free lives. Students participated in spirit days throughout the week, each with a message about staying healthy and drug-free.
Monday kicked off the week with students wearing red to launch Red Ribbon Week. Tuesday’s theme, “From Head to Toe, I am drug free,” featured crazy sock day. On Wednesday, students wore their favorite sports team shirts for “Team Up Against Drugs.”
Thursday was pajama day with the message “Put drugs to sleep.” The week concluded Friday with students wearing character or superhero attire for “Let’s scare drugs away.”
The themed spirit days provided opportunities for students to engage with important health and wellness messages in age-appropriate, fun ways. Red Ribbon Week helps elementary students understand the importance of making healthy choices.
The national Red Ribbon campaign began in 1985 and has become the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the United States, reaching millions of young people annually.
