Saluda second graders enjoy hike with Champions for Wildlife

Champions for Wildlife recently spent an afternoon with second graders at Saluda Elementary School, hiking through their school trail and learning all about local wildlife.

Champions for Wildlife, in partnership with the Tryon Rotary Club, recently piloted its Artist Explore Backpack Program, bringing local students outside and equipping them with tools and art supplies to more deeply engage with nature.

During the program at Saluda Elementary, students learned all about identifying animal tracks and even spotted some raccoon prints along the creek. Students also discussed other signs that animals leave behind as well as signs of spring.

Champions for Wildlife is grateful to the Tryon Rotary Club and the Forbes Foundation for their support of its programming in Polk County Schools.
