Tryon fourth graders explore Native American studies through pottery

Fourth graders in Angie Upton’s class at Tryon Elementary School recently added a hands-on art experience to their study of Native Americans in North Carolina.

Students welcomed Clara Rogers, a longtime former Tryon Elementary art teacher before her retirement, back to the school to help them create pinch pots.

The activity gave students an opportunity to connect their classroom studies with a creative project while learning a pottery technique firsthand.
