Tryon third graders explore Catawba Science Center

Third-grade students from Tryon Elementary School embarked on an educational field trip to the Catawba Science Center, made possible by a grant from the Polk County Community Foundation.

The no-cost excursion allowed students to engage with interactive science exhibits, observe aquatic life, and experience a planetarium presentation featuring characters from the Magic Tree House series exploring the moon.

Students explored various scientific displays, handled scientific equipment and watched a space-themed planetarium show that brought their classroom lessons to life.

The field trip complemented classroom learning from Polk County’s reading curriculum, where students have been studying ocean and space topics. Third-grade teachers expressed gratitude to the Polk County Community Foundation for providing this educational opportunity.
