School Performance Grades

Public schools and charter schools will receive a letter grade each year under the General Assembly’s A-F School Performance Grades. The grades are based on the percentage of students passing End of Year assessments and the student’s academic growth.

Read to Achieve - Grade 3 Reading Proficiency

The NC General Assembly passed the Read to Achieve Law in 2013.  The Law requires all 3rd grade students to demonstrate reading proficiency before being promoted to the 4th grade.  Each year school systems must report the number/percentage of students who met the requirements to be promoted to 4th grade.  All testing reports are required to conceal groups of students that contain fewer than 10 students.  This requirement makes it difficult to fully understand the  Reading Proficiency report linked below.
