Community Foundation grant helps Covil keep PCHS farm humming in summer

The Polk County High School farm received maintenance support this summer through an internship position funded by a Polk County Community Foundation grant.

PCHS student Skyler Covil served as the summer intern, managing daily operations at the school farm facility. Covil is an active member of the Polk County Agricultural Education and FFA program.

The internship responsibilities included caring for and feeding farm animals, maintaining vegetable and flower gardens, and performing overall grounds and lawn maintenance. The position provided hands-on agricultural experience while ensuring the farm remained operational during the summer months.

The Polk County Community Foundation supports educational initiatives throughout the district. The farm internship grant represents ongoing community investment in career and technical education programs.

The school farm serves as a learning laboratory for students in the agricultural education program during the academic year. Summer maintenance through the internship position ensures facilities and animals remain properly cared for year-round.
