Recently retired Polk County Schools Superintendent Aaron Greene has received an Honorary State FFA Degree.
The North Carolina FFA Board of Directors selected Greene for the prestigious honor, which recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to agricultural education and the FFA. The award is one of the highest honors bestowed by the North Carolina FFA Association.
Greene was nominated by Polk County High School agricultural teacher Chauncey Barber, who cited the former superintendent’s consistent support for the school’s agricultural education and FFA programs.
“I nominated him because of all the support he gave to the Agricultural Education and FFA programs here at the high school,” Barber said. “He was always in the foxhole with me and always gave and gave to me. He always showed up to events, whether a big community event or just a cookout for our students. I can’t say enough about him and owe him so much for helping me in my career.”
The Honorary State FFA Degree is awarded to those who have gone above and beyond in their efforts to support agricultural education and to mentor and inspire the next generation of leaders in the field.
