Polk Central Elementary’s kindergarten classes recently swapped their classroom for wide open fields and fresh country air, spending a memorable day at Johnson Farm that brought learning to life in the most hands-on way possible.
Students got up close with farm animals, explored a historic farmhouse, took part in traditional farm activities, and capped the day with a tractor ride – the kind of experience that turns into a favorite story told at the dinner table for weeks to come.
The visit gave young learners a chance to connect with the agricultural heritage of their community while building curiosity, wonder and an appreciation for where food and rural traditions come from.
Polk Central Elementary extends its sincere gratitude to the Polk County Community Foundation for making this field trip possible.
