From air traffic controllers to chiropractors, from Navy pilots to mobile welders, Polk Central Elementary students explored a diverse range of career possibilities during the school’s annual Career Day on Friday, March 20.
Students participated in hands-on activities while learning about nearly 20 different professions from community professionals who shared their experiences and expertise. The event provided elementary students with early exposure to career options and helped them understand the variety of paths available in their futures.
Career Day featured professionals representing both local industries and careers that serve the broader community. Students met with representatives from public safety professions including police officers, firefighters, EMTs and paramedics. They also learned about careers in healthcare from nurses, veterinarians, Humane Society representatives and chiropractors.
The event showcased careers in skilled trades including tile and flooring installers, mobile welders, power linemen and tow truck operators. Students also explored careers in public service and environmental stewardship through presentations from park rangers, the 4-H Youth Development Agent, Polk Soil and Water Conservation Director, and Polk Planning and Economic Development representatives.
