The Polk County FFA Chapter had an outstanding showing at the North Carolina FFA West Region Rally on April 29, bringing home three first-place finishes and five total awards from the event held at Blue Ridge Community College in Flat Rock.
Hundreds of students from across the region gathered to compete, celebrate agricultural education and elect new officers. When the results were in, Polk County stood among the top competitors in the western region.
The Nursery Landscape Team claimed first place, with Keidi Aguilera earning the highest individual score in the event. Team members included Gage Harden, David Duffy, Hannah Kirby and Keidi Aguilera.
The Floriculture Team also took first place, with team members Charley Dusenbury, Junie Mitchell, Aslyn Scruggs, Peyton Camby, Calum Eadus, Grayson Meyer and Acer Eadus.
The Tool Identification Team rounded out Polk County’s first-place haul, with Davis Holbert, Lane Covil, Colton Jackson and Silas Amorelli earning top honors in their event.
The Intro to Horticulture Team earned second place, with Brandon Ibarra, Allie Lewis, Ryleigh Mabe, Samantha Labreche, Callee Anderson, Finley Lay and Juniper Eadus representing the chapter.
The Agricultural Mechanics Team claimed third place, with Dakota Casturao, Tanner Osborn, Daniel Ramirez and Mason Littlefield rounding out the day’s results.
