Polk County school nurses attend state conference through Community Foundation grant

Polk County Schools nurses recently attended the North Carolina School Nursing Conference in Winston-Salem, thanks to funding from the Polk County Community Foundation.

The professional development opportunity allowed nurses to participate in sessions focused on critical school health topics, including diabetes management, care for students with chronic conditions and the prevention and treatment of common childhood illnesses. The knowledge gained at the conference will directly enhance the quality of care and support provided to students across district schools.

Beyond the educational sessions, the conference provided opportunities for Polk County nurses to network and connect with school nurses from across North Carolina. These professional connections allow for the sharing of best practices, resources and ideas that strengthen school health services statewide.

The Community Foundation’s investment in professional growth for school nurses supports the health, safety and well-being of students throughout the district. School nurses play a vital role in managing chronic conditions, responding to health emergencies and promoting wellness for students who spend their school days in district care.
