Twenty-one Polk County Schools teachers have achieved certification through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, earning one of the highest professional distinctions available in education.
National Board Certification is a voluntary, rigorous process that requires educators to demonstrate advanced teaching knowledge, reflective practice and a deep understanding of how students learn. Teachers must complete extensive portfolio submissions, classroom video analysis and assessments that measure their ability to plan, instruct and evaluate student learning at the highest level.
The certification process requires hundreds of hours documenting teaching practices, analyzing student work and reflecting on instructional strategies. The process emphasizes continuous improvement and encourages educators to deepen their understanding of effective teaching.
“Our teachers who achieve this certification demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to their profession and to the success of their students,” said Polk County Schools Superintendent Todd Murphy. “We are incredibly proud of their hard work and the impact they have in our classrooms every day.”
Research has consistently shown that students taught by National Board Certified teachers often experience stronger academic growth. These educators also frequently serve as mentors and leaders within their schools, sharing their expertise with colleagues and helping strengthen instructional practices across the district.
