Racing robots and building battle bots: Students code their way through summer camp

Robots raced through hallways, navigated intricate mazes and battled in competitions as Polk County students put their programming skills to the test during the AIG Computer Science Robotics Camp.

Led by Polk County Middle School teacher Jon Greene, the camp gave students opportunities to apply computer science skills using various robotics technologies, including Sphero Minis, Bolts, Blueprint Kits and RVR+ robots.

Students coded and controlled the robots in multiple activities throughout the week. They raced robots through school hallways, built and navigated mazes, and designed battle bots using Blueprint Engineering Kits for competitions.

The camp provided students with practical experience in programming while engaging them through competitive and creative challenges.

The Polk County Community Foundation provided funding support that made the summer robotics camp possible.
