Saluda Elementary kindergarteners explore farm life, local history

Saluda Elementary School kindergarten students visited Historic Johnson Farm in Hendersonville recently to explore local history and farm life through hands-on learning experiences.

The field trip, funded by a grant from the Polk County Community Foundation, connected with the students’ Arts and Letters module in English language arts.

Students rotated through several educational stations, including the historic farmhouse, farm life demonstrations, and sessions about goats and donkeys. The hands-on format allowed young learners to experience agricultural education through multiple perspectives.

Students also enjoyed a wagon ride around the property and a picnic lunch before continuing to explore the grounds for the remainder of the afternoon.
