Leslie Meeks has discovered what makes Polk County Schools special through experience at four different campuses across the district. The teacher assistant currently supports students in the ALPS program at Polk County Middle School.
“I currently serve in the ALPS classroom at Polk County Middle School, and I truly enjoy being part of the program and supporting our students,” Meeks said.
Meeks has worked at Tryon Elementary, Polk County High School, Polk Early College and now Polk County Middle School throughout his tenure with the district. The variety of assignments has given him perspective on the district’s culture across all levels.
“The number one thing I love is working with the students. That’s what keeps me going every day. I also enjoy working with the staff — it really feels like family,” Meeks said. “I’ve had the opportunity to work at Tryon Elementary, Polk County High School, Polk Early College and now at Polk County Middle School, and no matter where I’ve been, each school has treated me like family. That’s what makes Polk County Schools such a special place to work.”
Principal Adam Dedmon noted Meeks’ versatility and positive impact on the school community.
“Mr. Meeks is an important part of our school because of the positive relationships he builds with both students and staff,” Dedmon said. “He is always willing to step in wherever needed, whether that’s assisting in the ALPS program, covering classes, or even helping with bus routes.
“His positive attitude and willingness to serve make him a special part of our PCMS family.”
