Roanna Green has come full circle at Saluda Elementary School.
Once a student walking its halls, she now teaches art, bringing the same arts integration philosophy that shaped her own education to a new generation of learners.
In just her second year of teaching, Green has become a passionate advocate for integrating the arts as a vital part of core instruction. Through creative collaborations with classroom teachers, she uses arts integration to elevate student engagement, achievement and joy.
Green’s journey back to Saluda reflects her deep appreciation for the school’s A+ arts integration philosophy, which combines arts education with academic subjects to enhance learning across all disciplines.
Principal Erika Stronach said Green’s innovative spirit and passion for the arts inspire both students and colleagues.
“She reminds us daily of the power of creativity to transform learning,” Stronach said.
Green’s approach demonstrates how arts integration can help young learners grasp challenging concepts in engaging, accessible ways. Through her teaching, kindergarteners experience learning that connects creativity with core academic skills, building a foundation for lifelong learning.
