State representative teaches Sunny View students about N.C. government

North Carolina House Rep. Paul Scott visited Sunny View Elementary School on Oct. 15 to teach fourth and fifth grade students about state government.

Scott discussed North Carolina’s government structure with students and explained how bills are passed into law. Students participated in the learning by acting out the legislative process.

The interactive presentation provided students with hands-on experience understanding how state government functions and how laws are created.

The visit connected classroom social studies curriculum with real-world civics, giving students the opportunity to learn directly from an elected official about the legislative process.
