Academically gifted students transformed digital designs into tangible objects during a week-long “3D Printing with TinkerCad” camp that combined hands-on activities with software-based 3D modeling.
The camp, part of the Academically and Intellectually Gifted Summer Seminars series and funded by the Polk County Community Foundation, provided students access to 3D printing pens and printers.
Students began the week learning fundamental 3D printing concepts through hands-on experience with 3D printing pens before progressing to Tinkercad software for digital modeling.
Throughout the program, campers designed and created keychains, animals and self-selected projects. Polk County Middle School career technical education teacher Matthew Dellinger led the week-long sessions.
The camp concluded with students printing their original designs on 3D printers, bringing their digital creations to life.
The program represents part of the district’s ongoing commitment to providing advanced learning opportunities for academically gifted students during summer break.
