Students volunteer time to help Sunny View prepare for new school year

Four Polk County students gave part of their summer to help Sunny View Elementary prepare for the 2026-27 school year.

Pixie Moore spent hours organizing school supplies and books at Sunny View during the summer. Moore, the daughter of Sunny View custodian Deena Moore, helped organize supplies that reduced the number of items families needed to purchase for the start of school.

She also sorted books into bags and labeled bins in the school’s curriculum room, making it easier for teachers at each grade level to find books connected to their English language arts curriculum.

Elsewhere on campus, Gage Harden, Colton Jackson and Kash Mitchell spent a Saturday helping adult volunteers spruce up the Sunny View grounds before teachers and students returned.

The three students assisted with work around the campus and earned praise from the school for their effort and willingness to help.
