Students at Sunny View Elementary School honored military veterans Thursday with a celebration featuring patriotic songs, student performances and heartfelt expressions of gratitude.
Each class created banners to show appreciation for veterans. The school’s Girl Scout troop led the Pledge of Allegiance and prepared gift bags for each visiting veteran.
The school chorus performed three patriotic songs for the veterans and assembled guests. Fifth-grade students presented a skit honoring those who have served in the military.
Principal Preston Allen read a poem recognizing the sacrifices and service of veterans during the program.
The Veterans Day celebration provided students with opportunities to learn about military service while expressing gratitude to community members who have served the nation. Veterans from the community attended the event to be honored by students.
The program reflected the school’s commitment to teaching students about citizenship, service and respect for those who have protected the country’s freedoms.
