Tryon Elementary School kindergarten students visited Historic Johnson Farm in Hendersonville on Oct. 1 for a hands-on learning experience about farm life and local history.
The field trip, funded by the Polk County Community Foundation, provided students with opportunities to explore agricultural education through multiple activities. Students toured the historic home, took a tractor ride around the property and learned about farm operations.
During the visit, students also learned about predators and prey in farm ecosystems, connecting classroom science lessons to real-world environments. The day concluded with a picnic lunch on the farm grounds.
Historic Johnson Farm offers educational programming that connects students to the region’s agricultural heritage and provides experiential learning opportunities outside the classroom.
